Indigenous Artisans
Indigenous Artisans is a proud collaboration between four indigenous villages in the Para-Oost region of Suriname: Cassipora, Kumbasi, Powaka, and Redi Doti.
Each village opens its heart, craft, and culture to visitors from all over the world — offering handcrafted jewelry, traditional clothing, local drinks, community tours, and authentic experiences you won’t find anywhere else.
Our mission is to create visibility and independence for our local artisans and guides, especially indigenous women, by connecting them directly with international visitors.
This platform serves as a bridge — between generations, cultures, and continents.
Meet the Villages

Cassipora
Nestled in the jungle, Cassipora is known for its strong spiritual roots and handcrafted jewelry made with natural materials. The community preserves ancient traditions through sacred rituals and herbal knowledge passed down through generations.
Kumbasi
Kumbasi is the quiet heart of craftsmanship. It’s renowned for intricate beadwork, pottery, and traditional attire. Here, women lead the creative legacy — transforming local materials into wearable heritage.
Powaka
Located near historical Jodensavanne, Powaka connects history with hospitality. Guides from this village offer powerful nature tours, storytelling, and insights into both indigenous and colonial pasts. It’s a place of deep wisdom and resilience.
Redi Doti
